14th – 15th century; MCM Inv.: 5478
Gold lustre pottery produced in workshops situated in the city of Manises. It is wheel-thrown (mould-made handles) with red paste. Once the piece is shaped, it is decorated with cobalt oxide and fired. Then it receives a tin glaze and it is fired again. Finally, another decoration of lustre pigment is applied and with a third firing the gold effect is achieved. The ornamental motifs are freehand painted with a paintbrush.
