Sculpture of the page boy
In the celebrations in Abanilla, the pages are a distinctive figure of the Abanilla tradition. They are boys between 5 and 7 years old who wear traditional costumes and assist the captains during the pilgrimage.
Their function is to indicate with a ceremonial mace where they should fire the arquebuses or roll the flag. After the firing, the pages perform a turn and greet the captains with an 18th-century courtly bow.
