Archaeological Site Roman spa

The Romans frequented the thermal waters of the area that is now Fortuna and the surrounding area from the 2nd century BCE, but it was not until the first half of the 1st century BCE that they intervened in the area, building a nymphaeum and possibly some small pools.

From the 1st century CE we can begin to see a configuration of the spa similar to what we can see today from the remains of the site.

For the Romans, thermal waters were a very important medical resource. In Hispania, during the Roman presence, it is known that there were 152 enclaves of mineral waters in use, of which 15 currently provide data of such importance.
