Estany Gelat
A site of natural, scenic, and historical interest.
This is a coastal wetland formed by a lagoon at the mouth of the Estany Gelat or Estany Salat ravine. It is a stopover for migratory birds, and also home to the fartet, a freshwater fish in danger of extinction.
As its name suggests, Estany Gelat Beach, also known as Estany Salat, is an unusual spot on the Costa Dorada due to its remarkable natural and scenic value. The area is officially protected, and the small lagoon that forms there is truly unique. For the more observant and curious, the beach hides a Spanish Civil War bunker.
