Paseo de la Ermita

The Paseo de la Ermita, as we know it today, is a beautiful garden occupying the site where, centuries ago, an ancient hermitage once stood. It was built in 1561 in honor of Saint Sebastian and Saint Roch. In 1850, a sculpture of Saint Anthony was moved there, and the hermitage came to known as the Hermitage of Saint Anthony.
The building deteriorated over time, and by 1967, it was in very poor condition. As a result, the bishop sold the property to the Town Hall, which demolished it to create the current promenade.
During the May festivities, the festival captains perform the traditional flag-spinning ceremony in this location, and lively evening dances are held.
