Monument to the Sacred Heart of Jesus

This monument is in Lugar Alto hill.
The sculptors Nicolás and Anastasio Martínez
created the Monument to the Sacred Heart
in 1946.

When it was built, the people of the town
wanted to inaugurate the monument
on October 13, 1946.
Since it rained heavily that day,
they had to cancel it.
In the end, the monument was inaugurated
on October 15, 1946.
Since that moment, every October 15th
a mass is held
in honor of the sculpture.

In the municipality, there are three other monuments
that honor the Sacred Heart.
These monuments are
in the districts of Barinas,
Macisvenda, and El Cantón.
