The Port

The origins of the port date back to the 15th century, but it was in the mid-16th century that it gained importance, which continued to grow in the following centuries, reaching its peak in the 19th century with the export of raisins. When this trade declined (at the end of the same century), the port focused solely on fishing. The arrival of fishing boats, the auction, and the sale of fish at the market have become must-see attractions for our visitors. Next to the port, the Yacht Club offers various options for water sports enthusiasts. The first known breakwater and dock date from 1871.
