GUADALMINA RIVER – CAÑÓN DE LAS ANGOSTURAS

This viewpoint, located in the municipality of Benahavís, offers a unique experience that blends history, nature, and breathtaking panoramic views.

Rising 579 meters above sea level on the slopes of Sierra Bermeja, it is set among the ruins of the Vastillo de Montemayor, a 10th-century fortress that once played a key role in defending the Andalusian coast during medieval times, protecting the region from external attacks. From its strategic position, the castle maintained visual communication with nearby strongholds, including the Castillo del Nicio in Estepona.

From here, the views stretch from the Mediterranean coastline to the Strait of Gibraltar and, on clear days, even to the northern shores of Africa. The site also serves as a gateway to several scenic hiking routes.
