CABECERA DE RÍO VERDE VIEWPOINT
From this viewpoint, an imposing panorama unfolds at 1,200 m above sea level, facing the peaks of the Sierra de las Nieves. This strategic spot, reached after a short trail from the forest track, features a simple lookout beside the emblematic Pinsapo of Puntal de la Mesa, a centuries-old fir similar to the famous one at Escaleretas.
The scene reveals deep ravines and gentle slopes covered with Spanish firs, holm oaks, and black pines descending into the Verde River Valley, whose headwaters can be glimpsed. In the distance rise silhouettes such as Torrecilla and La Alcazaba, while on clear days even the Rock of Gibraltar and the North African coast can be seen.
The air is pure, the silence almost absolute. This viewpoint is both reward and contemplation: perfect for photographers, nature lovers, or anyone seeking a moment of connection with the essence of the mountains. A place that captures the grandeur and beauty of the Sierra de las Nieves National Park.
