PUERTO DE LOS PILONES VIEWPOINT
The Puerto de los Pilones Viewpoint is a natural balcony located at around 1,750 meters above sea level, between Ronda and Parauta. It can be reached via the trail starting from the Los Quejigales recreational area, passing through the Cañada del Cuerno or the Cañada de las Ánimas, surrounded by centuries-old Spanish firs (pinsapos) and gall oaks. The route is about 3 km with a positive elevation gain.
From this viewpoint, the panoramas are breathtaking: to the left, Mount Torrecilla, in the center Cerro Alcazaba, and, if visibility allows, even the Mediterranean coast.
Its uniqueness lies in the contrast between limestone formations and the gnarled gall oaks, complemented by mountain vegetation—yews, savins, and broom—that complete the native flora of the National Park.
It also offers a fantastic spot for birdwatching, including griffon vultures, as well as wildlife such as Iberian ibex and foxes.
