TOMILLAR VIEWPOINT

The Tomillar Viewpoint is situated in an elevated area of the Cañada Real that connects Serrato with Cuevas del Becerro, at approximately 680 meters above sea level. From this vantage point, visitors can view the valley where the Río de las Cuevas and the Río del Barranco converge, offering a broad panorama of an agricultural valley with fertile lands, dotted with olive groves, cereal fields, and typical Mediterranean forest vegetation, with the Sierra de Ortegícar on the horizon.

From its location, visitors can admire the rolling nearby mountains—Ortegícar, Los Merinos, and Almorchón de Gutiérrez—which shelter the village and protect it from light pollution, making the area excellent for stargazing. As part of the SL‑A‑351 trail network, this viewpoint is a common stop on easy circular routes, ideal for walkers and nature enthusiasts.

The experience combines the tranquility of the countryside, ecological diversity—holm oaks, wild olive trees, rosemary, thyme—and the opportunity to observe local wildlife, such as birds of prey or wild boar, in an environment defined by sustainability and the rural charm of Serrato.
