TOLOX

From the Hermitage of San Roque, located on a hill at the outskirts of Tolox, one of the town’s most emblematic views unfolds. At the foot of the viewpoint, the whitewashed houses of Tolox cascade down the hillside, with reddish rooftops and narrow alleys winding between them. Beyond the village, the gaze drifts into the majestic landscape of the Sierra de las Nieves National Park. The mountains rise in a mosaic of greens and grays, covered with Spanish firs, holm oaks, and Mediterranean scrubland. On the horizon stands Torrecilla Peak, the highest in the province, its silhouette clearly outlined against the sky. On clear days, the light accentuates the contours and colors of the terrain, offering a stunning scene that perfectly reflects the harmony between Tolox’s natural surroundings and its identity.

The hermitage has been adapted as a recreational area, with parking, wooden tables and benches for picnics, public restrooms, and a water point. Every first weekend of August, this place takes on special significance during the traditional pilgrimage in honor of San Roque.
