Sant Joan Church

Built as a Morisco rectory in 1535, this parish preserves from that period the “Altarpiece of the Blood” (1538), depicting the sacraments flowing from Christ’s side. The new church, blessed in 1675, rises next to the large bell tower, in the characteristic style of Mínguez, which still retains traces of polychromy.
The interior of the church remains in exceptionally good condition, preserving almost all its original elements, including the monumental Baroque main altarpiece with Rococo details (18th century), gilded and one of the few of its kind preserved in Valencia, together with beautiful sculptures such as the Saint Joseph (1784), attributed to the renowned academic sculptor José Esteve.
In the year 2000, the restoration works on the façade, interior, and main altarpiece were completed. On this occasion, for its 325th anniversary, the temple was solemnly dedicated by the Archbishop. It also houses a parish museum with sacred art.
