THE CHURCH OF ST MICHAEL THE ARCHANGEL

The Parish Church of Saint Michael the Archangel is the most prominent architectural monument in Abengibre, with an imposing presence on the urban skyline. Its construction began in the 18th century and combines styles from different phases of construction and restoration. The façade and the slender bell tower dominate the square. Inside, dedicated to the town’s patron saint, notable elements include the recent main altar, a Baroque painting from the 17th-century Sevillian school, and 18th-century silverwork pieces, such as a chalice from Córdoba and an ewer.
