The Hermitage of San Isidro

The Hermitage of San Isidro is a small yet significant religious building located on the outskirts of Casas de Juan Núñez, dedicated to the patron saint of farmers. Its setting in the open countryside, surrounded by arable land, underscores the municipality’s profound connection to agricultural life.

The hermitage is the destination for the traditional San Isidro pilgrimage (romería) in May, an event that brings the entire village together for a day of community, music, and devotion. Its architecture is simple and welcoming, designed to blend seamlessly into the rural landscape.

For the rest of the year, the hermitage is a place of peace and a landmark along the paths frequented by local farmers. For the visitor, it represents a fine example of folk piety linked to the land, offering a space for rest and reflection amidst the Manchegan nature, where traditions are kept alive generation after generation.
