Town Hall
The Town Hall of Villalonga, located in the region of La Safor, is the building that houses the municipal government of the town. This building holds a rich and significant history for the local community. The Town Hall was constructed between 1894 and 1895 on the site of the old abbey. The project was designed by a Valencian architect with the last name Calvo, and the construction was overseen by Bernat Fuertes Costa. The balconies were crafted by the blacksmith Joaquín Martínez Frau, while Moltó Santonja & Cía contributed to financing the construction in exchange for land. Since then, this building has served as the administrative and political center of the municipality.
The building stands out for its traditional architecture, featuring elements that reflect the Valencian style of the time, and it has witnessed numerous decisions and events that have shaped the history of Villalonga. In front of the Town Hall lies the town’s main square, a gathering and celebration point for the residents of Villalonga. Over the years, this square has hosted festivals, markets, and various public events. Its design and layout make it a natural meeting place for neighbors and visitors, establishing it as the social heart of the town.
Over time, both the Town Hall and its square have been renovated and updated to meet the community’s needs without losing their historical essence. Together, they form not only a hub of administrative activity but also a symbol of Villalonga’s heritage and identity.
