Casa Pintada or Pintá

Casa Pintada was built
between the 17th and 18th centuries.
It is known by this name
because its facade was
ochre yellow before.
Currently, its facade
is red with blue details.

Casa Pintada belonged
to the Enríquez de Navarra family.
The Enríquez de Navarra
were connected to the kings
and the Order of Calatrava.
This family owned many properties in Abanilla.

On the facade of the house
is the shield of the Enríquez
of Navarra.

The shield is divided into two equal parts:

  • The left part is divided
    into four sections and has:
    • Two lions.
    • Two chains. These chains
are a symbol of the Kingdom
      of Navarra.
  • The right part has a large wheel.
    This wheel is associated with
Saint Catherine in the Christian religion.
