Shop-Museum of the Brotherhood of the Holy Cross
Inside the shop-museum, you can see:
- The flag of Saint Andrew.
This is the flag used
by the Army of Flanders
in the 16th century. - The captains’ uniform.
During the pilgrimage, the captains
wear the 16th-century military uniform.
These uniforms have:- a sash.
- a hat adorned with a brooch.
- an insignia with the image of the Holy Cross.
- a red armband.
- The pages’ uniform.
- The pomegranate.
This pomegranate is made of metal.
During the celebrations of May 3rd,
3 or 4 white doves and holy water are placed inside the grenade.
hen it is opened, the doves fly
and the water falls onto the Cross.
This makes the cross blessed.
