Shop-Museum of the Brotherhood of the Holy Cross

Inside the shop-museum, you can see:

  • The flag of Saint Andrew.
    This is the flag used
    by the Army of Flanders
    in the 16th century.
  • The captains’ uniform.
    During the pilgrimage, the captains
    wear the 16th-century military uniform.
    These uniforms have:
    • a sash.
    • a hat adorned with a brooch.
    • an insignia with the image of the Holy Cross.
    • a red armband.
  • The pages’ uniform.
  • The pomegranate.
    This pomegranate is made of metal.
    During the celebrations of May 3rd,
    3 or 4 white doves and holy water are placed inside the grenade.
    hen it is opened, the doves fly
    and the water falls onto the Cross.
    This makes the cross blessed.
