Monumento al Sagrado Corazón (Monument to the Sacred Heart of Jesus)

The Monumento al Sagrado Corazón, located in the Lugar Alto hill, was sculpted in 1946 by Nicolás and Anastasio Martínez. Its inauguration was scheduled for 13 October 1946, as the plaque on the monument describes, but heavy rain delayed the event until 15 October, the date from which a commemorative mass has been held every year.
In addition to this monument, there are three more in the municipality of Abanilla in the small villages of Barinas, Macisvenda and El Cantón.
