San Vicente Ferrer's Church
The Church of San Vicente Ferrer is a Catholic temple located in Algimia de Alfara (Valencia, Spain). It was built on an old mosque converted into a church. This church was annexed to Torres Torres parish until 1574 (fifteen seventy-four).
San Vicente Ferrer“s Church suffered significant damage during the civil war of 1936 (nineteen thirty-six), after which it was rebuilt respecting its traditional style.
On the main facade you can see a large smooth and a simple lintelled cover. The bell tower, built in brick, is a square prism. In the structure a window is opened on each side. The cupola is covered with glazed tilework and a wrought iron vane.
The left side facade faces a square, sheltered by a arcaded gallery covered by an edge vault, which was built during post-war reconstruction.
The interior of the temple has a Latin cross plan. The nave is covered by a barrel vault with lunettes and is divided into five sections.
The cornice and smooth pilasters are decorated with Pompeian-style ornaments.
The side chapels, communicated with each other, are covered by empty vaults. The main altarpiece, in a modern style, presents an image of San Vicente Ferrer, the saint of the temple. The communion chapel is a rectangular space covered by two barrel vaults.
The Virgen del Rosario chair the church.
