House of the Vallterra

The House of the Valterra family, lords of Torres-Torres, is located in the current Church Square, in front of where one of the entrances to the town once stood, near the bridge where the royal road crossed the main Sagunto irrigation channel. The current building consists of a solid tower. Its base is formed by two thick lateral walls supporting a lowered barrel vault (with the vault and exposed formwork made of ceramic bricks), which provides access to the interior through a semicircular arch made of large blue limestone voussoirs, and an attached section of two stories on the façade and three on the inner courtyard. The vault opens onto the inner courtyard through a lowered arch made of large sandstone blocks. This courtyard preserves its original paving made of cobblestones and sandstone slabs, marking the classic cart path.

The building, dated to the 15th century, has undergone multiple transformations over time, with a major renovation carried out by Don Juan Vallterra in 1548.
