LAS PORTÀS

La Portás is a spectacular geological landscape where water has carved out almost vertical rocky strata (tabular limestones and dolomites). This process has formed a natural staircase that culminates in a U-shaped “medal” formation, beneath which lies a 20-metre precipice—a direct result of water erosion acting upon the verticality of the rock.The origins of this site date back to the Middle Triassic period, approximately 240 million years ago.
