Sotil and Carmesina, the giants of Alaquàs
They were presented on 28 October 2018 inside the castle. They are 4.20 metres high and have been made using the traditional procedure: modelled in clay, plaster mould and then covered in fibreglass, a resistant and light material.
Carmesina is also a character from the play by Tirant lo Blanc and represents the servants. She is the maid of the manor of Alaquàs when it was in the hands of the Vilaragut family, who lived in the 15th century on the site where the Aguilar family built the castle a century later. On the other hand, Sotil represents the muslim population, which was important in Alaquàs until the beginning of the 17th century. He is an alfaquí who worked with silk and who lived in the town during the 16th century.
