Church of the Assumption

This passage gives access to the Church of the Assumption, a religious temple from the 16th century and declared an Asset of Local Relevance. Its construction was paid for by the grandson of Jaime GarcĂa de Aguilar, the lord who built the castle.

The church is in the Churrigueresque style, and part of its decoration disappeared with the restoration of 1877. It is a single-nave building without a half-orange and has two entrance doors: the one in front of the main altar, which lacks decoration, and the one on the gospel side, with very simple decorations.

Designed as a private oratory, the two buildings are connected by an inner and outer arch. In this way, the lords of the castle could attend mass without having to go outside.
