THE "CERRO PELAO"

The “Cerro Pelao” is a small elevation that hosts one of the archaeological sites in the locality. It is located less than 2 kilometers in a straight line from the urban center of Cenizate and is bordered by the Cañada de Cardeal.
The remains—especially the ceramic fragments found on the surface—and the type of location indicate, by similarities with other archaeological sites already excavated in the province of Albacete, such as El Acequión (Albacete), La Morra del Quintanar (Munera), and El Cuchillo (Almansa), that a human community belonging to the Bronze Age (2200–1100 BC) was established at “Cerro Pelao” in Cenizate approximately 4,000 years ago.
