Hermitage San Miguel

The small hermitage of San Miguel is on a small hill surrounded by Calvario Street in the South of the village. It was built in 1880. It is a single square-shaped building with a cornice adorned with pinnacles at the ends. It has a central dome with a half-orange shape topped by a smaller one that houses the bell. Above the door is the date of construction and the name of the hermitage, and higher up, in tiles, the image of San Miguel. Some improvement and conditioning works have been carried out in the hermitage and its surroundings. The most significant ones were in 1991 with the replacement of the steps, and in 1993 with the improvement of the ascent with steps and walls.

“Every September 29th, San Miguel is celebrated with a procession of the saint to the church where a solemn mass is held. At the end, the traditional ‘Rolletes de San Miguel ‘ (a kind of doughnuts or bagels) are distributed, followed by a pilgrimage to the hermitage.”
