The Church of Our Lady of the Assumption
The Church of Our Lady of the Assumption (Nuestra Señora de la Asunción) is the principal temple of Jorquera and a jewel of late Gothic architecture with Renaissance influences. Its monumental scale stands out amidst the town’s layout of narrow, steep streets, presenting a façade of great sobriety and elegance.
The interior of the temple houses treasures of sacred art that have been cherished by the community for generations, including altarpieces and decorative elements of immense value. The church is not only the centre of religious life and patronal festivals but also acts as a guardian of the town’s collective memory. Its tower, rising above the houses of Jorquera, sets the pace of local life and serves as a constant visual landmark, blending perfectly into the historic-artistic complex that defines this stunning Albaceteño town.
