Fly trap

Before chemical compounds appeared, there were other more rudimentary mechanisms, such as glass bottles for the orange fly.The bottle for the fly or “mosqueta” (‘fly’), is a trap for fruit flies. It has two holes, one at the top, for pouring liquid, which was covered with a cork cap, and an opening in the background in the shape of an inverted funnel. Through the mouth of the bottle was poured vinegar, or vinegar with sugar and closed. The lower orifice served to spread the smell of vinegar and attract the fruit flies, which entered here. Once inside, they became disoriented and trapped.
