Basin or urinal
Urinal or basin embedded in a wooden stool with a lid. It was common to have a toilet in the bedroom so as not to go out to the patio at night to relieve oneself. Very often, families had a chamber pot under the bed. This one served as a latrine, as it was elevated it was more comfortable and the lid reduced the bad smell. To mask the effluvia, in some houses a small bag of herbs was placed at the foot of the bed.
