Oil lamp
The vetlon or oil lamp combines its functional character with the ornament. Made of cast bronze, it has a tank where the oil (low quality) is placed and four arms for which a torçuda or cotton wick was pointed. The polished bronze screen propagated and increased light. The accessories hang from the central body: a tip to remove the wick, some tiles to cut it, a hood to turn off the flame and a poalet to deposit the mistos used in the onset. Although electricity had entered many houses in the early decades of the 20th century, the service was very unstable and the use of older lighting devices was common.
