Church of Our Lady of El Rebollet

This church keeps a special treasure.

Here you can see the Mare de Déu del Rebollet.
It is an image of the Virgin Mary.
It is considered the oldest Marian image in the Comunitat Valenciana.

It is Romanesque.
It is small, but it is very meaningful.
Romanesque is a very old style of art and architecture.

At first, it was in the Rebollet castle.
The castle was between Oliva and la Font d’en Carròs.

Later, an earthquake destroyed the castle.
So the image was moved to this church.

And now comes the curious part.
One night, people from la Font took it to their town.
But the next day, the image appeared again in this church.

Was it a coincidence?
Was it a miracle?
We do not know.
