MONTEMAYOR VIEWPOINT

This viewpoint, located in the municipality of BenahavĂs, offers an experience that combines history, nature, and panoramic views.

At 579 meters above sea level, on the slopes of Sierra Bermeja, it stands on the ruins of the Vastillo de Montemayor, a 10th-century fortress that was key in the defense of the Andalusian coast during the medieval period and protected the region from external attacks. From its strategic position, the castle maintained visual communication with other nearby fortifications, including the Castillo del Nicio in Estepona.

From this viewpoint, the views extend from the Mediterranean coast to the Strait of Gibraltar and, on clear days, to the coasts of North Africa; it also provides access to several hiking routes.
