LOS DIQUES – TURÓN RIVER

The dams of the Turón River are mainly four: Molino Caído Dam, Nacimiento Dam, Hierbabuena Dam, and El Largo Dam.

These hydraulic infrastructures were built to control water flow and optimize its use. They help reduce the force of floods and minimize the risk of flooding, while also playing an important role in irrigating orchards through irrigation channels. Constructed in the mid-20th century after the devastating flood of 1906, they have contributed to the preservation of riverside ecosystems and wetland habitats.

Today, these dams are also tourist attractions, with routes along the Turón River that allow visitors to explore them. Their natural surroundings make them an ideal spot to enjoy nature. Thanks to these dams, natural swimming areas have been created, which are very popular in the region.
