EL CHORRO
The Lavadero del Chorro Fountain, the most emblematic in the municipality and its main communal washhouse, is a beautiful example of traditional hydraulic ingenuity. It is located on the street that bears its name, accessible from the town center. Dating back to the mid-20th century (inaugurated in 1952), it features seven spouts, although originally there were eight. Surrounded by white and blue tiles, it combines the water fountain with the washhouse, connected by brick arches.
The Chorro irrigation channel once ran through the center of the village, open in certain sections known as Charcones for the small pools it formed, from which water was distributed to the different channels. Along its course, in certain streets of the town, openings were built where neighbors poured water.
This type of washhouse was used for generations until running water reached homes in the 19th century. Today, it serves as a meeting and resting spot for hikers. At night, the lighting enhances its charm, turning it into an even more captivating setting.
