MONDA
The Castle of Monda, also known as the Villeta Castle, is a historic fortress located in the municipality of Monda, in the province of Málaga, and forms part of Andalusia’s heritage.
Historically, the origins of the castle date back to the Arab domination of the 9th and 10th centuries, when the initial fortress was built on the Villeta hill. The Almohads constructed a more solid structure in the 11th century, including a polygonal tower almost unique in the province of Málaga. In later periods, it was reinforced with new walls and towers. After the Christian conquest in 1485, it was dismantled to prevent possible Mudéjar rebellions.
Today, it houses a four-star boutique hotel that combines original architectural elements with all modern comforts.
