WATCHTOWER
The Watchtower of Yunquera, popularly known as the Castle, is a truncated conical, almost cylindrical structure with thick masonry walls and reddish brick details that still bear the mark of time. It was built between 1808 and 1812 to serve as a lookout tower during the Spanish War of Independence, when Spanish troops under General Ballesteros used it as a strategic point against Napoleonic forces.
Today, it is listed as an Asset of Cultural Interest within Spain’s Historical Heritage. More than just a defensive monument, it also offers visitors a privileged viewpoint and a direct connection to Yunquera’s historical memory.
