Hermitage of San Antonio Abad and Santa Bárbara

The Hermitage of San Antonio Abad and Santa Bárbara in Villalonga is an emblematic building of 17th century origin, which forms an important part of the cultural and religious heritage of the town. This hermitage is located in a picturesque rural setting, surrounded by nature, which makes it a place of tranquillity and seclusion.

The current structure reflects the need for conservation due to the wear and tear of time. Recently, the Villalonga Town Council initiated a restoration project to preserve the building and its valuable gothic bell. This effort includes the restoration of wooden beams and the roof of the porch, as well as the creation of a replica of the original bell to protect it against possible theft.

The hermitage is a significant site during the patron saint festivities of San Antonio Abad, which are held in January. These festivities are very traditional and bring together the local community to honour the saint through processions and other religious events. It also forms part of a route of historical and architectural interest that includes other monuments in Villalonga, such as the Church of the Holy Kings and the Chapel of Mare de Déu de la Font.

It is located in an area that combines history and nature, ideal for visitors interested in cultural and ecological tourism. It is integrated in local routes that highlight the natural and scenic wealth of the Safor mountain range
