Washhouse

Built in 1944 and financed by Papereres Reunides, S.A., this washhouse features a rectangular design with a distinctly functional and popular focus. Its primary purpose was to meet the needs of clothes washing and serve as a social gathering place for exchanging information about people and events in the municipality.

The washhouse follows the typical design of such structures, with two water channels separated by a central walkway, which includes two stone basins on each side. The walkway floor is paved with baked clay tiles. The water comes from the well-known “Fountain of the Sixteen Spouts” and drains through a structure designed for this purpose.

In a recent restoration, decorative ceramic elements characteristic of Valencian culture, such as trencadís, were incorporated. Currently, the washhouse remains open and accessible to residents, who still use it today.

It is located at 4 Maestro Serrano Street, just 20 meters from the rear entrance of the supermarket. This space is covered, and the water flows from one end of the rectangle to the opposite side, originating from the Fountain of the Sixteen Spouts.
