THE CABRIEL WATER WHEEL OR THE BASILIOS WATERWHEEL

La Rueda is one of the most unique natural areas within the Cabriel River in the surroundings of Villamalea, located alongside the river’s course. There is also a wooden water wheel (La Rueda), which gives the place its name, and which was formerly used to draw water to irrigate the orchards through irrigation channels. This place is used for fishing, adventure sports, and also offers the possibility of a good swim.
This site stands out for the beauty of its landscape, where water, riverside vegetation, and rock formations create a highly attractive environment. Traditionally linked to hydraulic use, the place preserves the memory of old irrigation systems and mills. Today it is an ideal space for walking, enjoying nature, and appreciating the environmental richness of the area, becoming one of the most valued spots by residents and visitors.
