Chapel of Saint Victoria
This chapel is annexed to the Church of the Convent of Saint Telmo, built to house the incorrupt body of Saint Victoria, virgin and martyr. In 1788, once the chapel was completed, the saint’s body—brought from the Roman cemetery of Lucina—was placed here, along with the venerated images of the Holy Christ of the Hospital and the Nazarene. Vinaròs kept the body of Saint Victoria until the Spanish Civil War, when the building suffered significant damage.
The chapel was restored in 2019. As in the Fortress Church of the Assumption, the restoration revealed trompe-l’oeil paintings with perspective effects dating from the 18th century.
Today, the church building is used as an auditorium, while the chapel inside serves as an exhibition space.
