Access to Church Square

Under the only arch that remains open are the steps leading up to Church Square. The pointed Gothic arch that we see at the top of the staircase is believed to have been the entrance to the original town of Xàbia in the 14th century. Later, in the 16th century, the town was expanded and a new line of walls was built, running along the current ring roads. Remains of the wall can still be seen on Princep d’Astúries Avenue.
